POWER QUALITY

The Quality of the Power Supply is a very important consideration for both power utilities and consumers.  A power quality (PQ) problem is defined as any problem that causes voltage, current, or frequency deviations in the supply.  An Electrical network with poor power quality may result in failure or mal-operation of end-user equipment which results in financial losses due to production losses, repairing and replacement of sensitive equipment, reduction in demand penalties and safety concerns.  Good power quality not only improves the efficiency of the energy by decreasing the loss of electrical equipment, but also guarantees that the power system could support a stable and healthy operation.  It becomes more and more convenient for us both in daily life and industry because of fast developing technology, which is accompanied with the development of non-linear loads.

There are four major factors that cause an increased need to solve and prevent power quality problems:

  • Increased use of power quality-sensitive equipment
  • Increased use of equipment that generates power quality problems (e.g. Motors, VSD etc.)
  • Increased inter-connectedness of power system (e.g. Renewable power etc.)
  • Deregulation of the power industry

Static Var Generator (SVG)

The Sinexcel SVG provides a cost effective, reliable and extremely fast (<15ms) response to compensate for both inductive and capacitive loads to achieve a Power Factor of 0.99 and avoid under and over compensation as well as compensation for 3-phase unbalance. The SVG operates by detecting the load current, analyzing the reactive content and then injecting the exact reverse reactive compensating current on an instantaneous real-time basis enabling perfect compensation on each phase.

The SVG can be ordered as single module (30kVAR, 50kVAR and 100kVAr), or if solution requires a higher capacity, several modules can be used together to increase SVG capacity.  The SVG modules are available as standalone wall mount modules with controller or as rackmount modules with central monitoring and control module, which can be integrated in a Floor standing cabinet.  We offer complete rackmount solutions, pre-wired at the factory.

Advanced Static Var Generator (ASVG)

The Sinexcel Advanced Static Var Generator (ASVG) conducts real-time monitoring of load current through external Current Transformer (CT) and detects reactive components and harmonics from load current through the calculation of internal Digital Signal Processor (DSP), then transmits PWM signal to internal Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT). Conforming reactive current and low-order harmonic current are generated by inverter with control settings to achieve reactive compensation and control harmonics.

Active Harmonic Filter (AHF)

The Sinexcel Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) conducts real-time monitoring of load current through external Current Transformer (CT).  The Digital Signal Processor (CPU) has advanced control arithmetic to divide the load current into active power and reactive power, and calculates the harmonic content rapidly and accurately.  Then it sends PWM signal to internal IGBT’s driver board to control the IGBT and to finally generate the opposite phase compensation current to achieve the desired harmonic and reactive compensation.

  • Support for 2’nd to 50’th harmonic compensation
  • Three-Phase unbalance compensation
  • Step-less reactive power compensation without over/under compensation
  • Combination of modes with priority setup
Wall-mount and Rack-mount Module (25, 35, 50, 60, 75, 100 and 150A)

Specifications:

The Sinexcel AHF can be ordered as single module (25A, 35A, 50A, 60A, 75A, 100A and 150A), or if solution requires a higher capacity, several modules can be used together to increase AHF capacity.  The AHF modules are available as standalone wall mount modules with controller or as rackmount modules with central monitoring and control module, which can be integrated in a Floor standing cabinet.  We offer complete rackmount solutions, pre-wired at the factory.
